How Ugly Can it Get? Change your Backdrop.

Ok listen, nobody wants to watch a video that has an ugly background. If you had roses, exposed brick, or something groovy, people are going to watch! Brendan was shooting for a company known as, Real Vision, and as soon as he got to the shoot, he realized that backdrop was not going to work. Pipes strung everywhere was just not a great aesthetic. Thankfully, Brendan knows what he is doing and improvised wonderfully! In fact, they flipped a bunch of tables and added some plants. They created a wonderful backdrop, as you can see below.

Echo... Echo...

As beautiful as your voice is, nobody is interested in hearing what you said twice. In a video shoot, echoing can be a serious issue that arises, but Brendan to the rescue again! In order to prevent an echo in a warehouse, you have to get creative. So, they used large sound blankets hanging on C-stands on the window-side of the set around the wide shot camera. This totally helped solve the issue!

Reflection:

Picture this, a busy street with lots of cars driving by and you are shooting in a building on that street with a wall of windows. Let’s just say it, you will no longer be having a shoot there. Unless you follow these tips on how to change your backdrop! If possible, use two large shade covers and clip them up to posts outside. Brendan also had the idea to drop one side of each, so they would lay flat against the windows like a curtain. Also, the blanket idea could help erase reflections of cars coming from outside the windows. We hope that Brendan’s brilliant ideas help change your background in a hurry! Our last piece of advice to you is, always improvise! If you ever need someone like Brendan to shoot your video, give us a call!
