National School Choice Week | Crew Mama Blog |“Shining a spotlight on effective education options for children” Every child deserves an effective challenging and motivating education
National School Choice Week intends to make sure that every student can find a learning environment that allows them to be inspired, successful, and happy.School of Choice worked with Crew Mama’s preferred cameramen to help cover all of their events throughout the country!
-Roger Woodruff (Waco, TX DP)-Nate Galluppi (Dallas, TX DP)-Nate Silverman (Atlanta, GA DP)-Jordan Woods (Cleveland, OH cameraman)-Sam Caravana (St. Louis, MO cameraman)-David DiFalco (Washington D.C. cameraman)-Kyle Kaiser (Chicago, IL cameraman)-Reinaldo Gentile-Rondon (Boston, MA cameraman)-Chris Halleen (New York, NY cameraman)-David Feeney Lance (Los Angeles, CA cameraman)-Tori Musciano (Charlotte, NA DP)-Zach Sneed (Las Vegas, NV cameraman)Schools from around the state came together to celebrate their right to choose the education that best suits them. Our crews caught the b-roll of everyone showing their school spirit by song, dance, cheers and sharing their testimonials on why education is so important. Every January, during National School Choice Week, schools, homeschool groups, organizations and individuals, plan tens of thousands of independent events. The celebratory events raise public awareness of the different K-12 education options available to children and families while also spotlighting the benefits of school choice.
Our preferred Boston cameraman, Reinaldo Gentile-Rondon, gave us a recap on how his portion of the shoot went! To capture the b-roll and interviews, Reinaldo set up a Sony F5 camera with 18-55 Fuji lenses. He also had his on camera light on just in case it was needed. He followed the action of the events and the interviews he caught were on the fly. Since the shots were live and impromptu, minimal lighting setup was required.
Cleveland Shoot: Our preferred Cleveland cameraman, Jordan Woods, also gave us an inside look on how he set up for the shoot. Jordan chose to shoot on the shoulder for most of the shoot. The style for Cleveland was very similar to Boston and consisted of several on the fly interviews. For ease of setup, and to also achieve the look the client wanted, he brought in his lite panels and sticks to make the OTF interviews work better.
To capture the footage, Jordan used a Canon C300 camera with a 24-105mm lens. The lens posed an initial challenge due to it being a constant f4. That said, our crews are trained for these exact scenarios! The lite panels were crucial with the lens that the crew was using to capture footage. So if you are ever in a similar situation - they will be a lifesaver!Thank you to the National School Choice Week for letting our preferred video camera crews be apart of capturing this inspiring event. We look forward to working with you again in the future!
